Registration for BIOCOMM 2017 and the pre-meeting photography workshop will be open soon. Regardless if you’ve been a visual communicator for years or you’re new to the field, BIOCOMM has some thing for everyone. It’s going to be spectacular!

Two-Day Photography Workshop with Matt Kloskowski

Matt Kloskowski has planned two days of location shooting at some of Oregon’s extraordinary photographic destinations. The workshop is scheduled two days prior to the meeting and is optional. This pre-meeting workshop is not included in the conference registration fee. It requires a separate fee. Check out the workshop page for full details.

The two-day Matt Kloskowski workshop is only open to those who register for the BIOCOMM 2017 meeting.

The hotel is located at the edge of Portland State University and close to everything downtown. Portland is a very walk-able city with great public transportation. It is just a short drive to the coast or the mountains. There are also countless places to hike and many waterfalls in the surrounding area. Getting around from the hotel is a breeze! TriMet’s Lincoln Station and the MAX Line is just outside our front door and the Downtown Street Car is less three blocks away.

The Comfort Room rate is $104 per night plus 15.3% tax. There is a $10 per person, plus tax, for the 3rd and 4th adult guest in the room.

To get the special rate you must call the hotel directly at 1-866-845-4647 and ask for the BIOCOMM 2017 block rate. There is not an online link. Special rate deadline is May 4, 2017.

Hotel guests receive free WiFi and a complimentary full service hot breakfast: eggs, bacon, sausage, cereal, bread, toast, milk, tea, coffee, orange juice and more. Pets are welcome with a fee in designated rooms. For a full list of amenities please check out the hotel website and the virtual reality tours of the hotel property.

Please note that the room block dates are available June 19 through June 25, 2017. If guests would like to stay before or after the block dates, please let the hotel agent know the block starts on June 19, to ensure the agent will see the blocked dates. Room rates are available three days before and after the block dates. The deadline for room block reservation is May 4, 2017.


$12 for the day parkers or $15 per night for overnight guests.

Airport Transportation

You can use public transportation from and to the airport. Please plan your trip on www.trimet.org.

Meeting Registration

Registration Policies

  • Registration with full payment must be received by May 20, 2017.
  • Registrations canceled by June 10, 2017 are eligible for a refund, minus a $50 administration fee.
  • Registrations canceled after June 10, 2017 are non-refundable.
  • All cancellations must be received in writing by the dates indicated above. (Email is acceptable.)
  • Payment in U.S. Dollars may be made by check, Visa, MasterCard via PayPal.
