May 23, 2020
Directly following BIOCOMM 2020 there will be a post Conference workshop. Continue the networking with colleagues in a more relaxed and informal atmosphere, while still continuing to reap the educational benefits of photography in the field. This workshop is at an additional cost and is limited to 24 people. To attend this workshop you will need to book and pay by April 20, 2020.
The group will set off early to take advantage of the beautiful morning light. We will explore the Ghost Ranch landscape and visit the area that Georgia O'Keeffe loved and painted.
Georgia O'Keeffe was an influential artist who took inspiration for her work from the New Mexico landscape. She is widely known for her larger than life paintings of flowers. Tour the landscape of Ghost Ranch by motorbus and see through your own eyes the scenes and actual locations of Georgia O'Keeffe's paintings interwoven with stories of her fifty years at Ghost Ranch.
To set the scene we will start by touring Georgia O'Keefe's Ghost Ranch, later we will follow up with a tour of her home and studio. Throughout the day we will have opportunities to photograph in the surrounding landscape of New Mexico.
After the tours there will be plenty of time to immerse yourself, with your camera and sketchbooks in this amazing landscape to create images. This special environment lends itself to all types of photography ranging from colour, infrared through to photomacrography. You are only limited by your imagination.
At the end of the day we will re-group back at the Drury Plaza hotel in Santa Fe to conclude the workshop with a group photographic critique of selected images taken on the day.
Post conference workshop costs are $110.00. This includes Ghost Ranch landscape tour and O'Keeffe home and studio tour. You will need to provide own lunch and transport, car pooling may be available on request. There are cafes in Ghost Ranch and Abiquiu.
