Once again, the planning team has put together a terrific meeting filled with educational presentations, opportunities to explore new techniques and creative solutions and network with professionals in your field. There’s something for every attendee!
We will be mixing things up a bit this year by having a pre-meeting photo excursion workshop led by Matt Kloskowski. Matt presented on Lightroom and workflows at BIOCOMM 2016, and this year, he will lend his expertise in a landscape photography workshop, June 20 - 21. He has planned a full day and a half of location photography at some of the best scenic areas around Portland. On the later half of the second day, workshop attendees will go back to the hotel for image critique and discussion. If you are plan on attending Matt’s workshop, the group will meet on Monday evening, June 19 to discuss logistics and arrange transportation. If you register for the pre-meeting workshop with Matt, make sure you arrive at the hotel by 8pm on June 19.
Our program meeting kicks off Thursday, June 22 with our Maria Ikenberg Lindberg Keynote Address: A Life Shaped by People that Profoundly Influenced My Image Making, presented by Jack Dykinga. Many of you, who were attended BIOCOMM in Arizona a few years ago, may remember a stop to view the Dykinga rocks. Prepare to be amazed by his work and the people who influenced his image making!
The meeting has something for everyone, including presentations on Lightroom, clinical photography, IR/UV digital photography, photomicrography, an expanded Show Your Stuff/Infoshare, just to name a few. The complete program is also available on the BIOCOMM website.
Show Your Stuff section is full but there is still room for you to participate in Infoshare. Infoshare is designed to be short 3-5 minute presentations on a tip/trick/technique or piece of equipment that solved a problem for you. If you would like to be a part of Infoshare, please let me know.
The Anne Shiras Pioneer Lecturer wraps up our meeting with another outstanding photographer, George Lepp who will be presenting, No Limits, Extreme Capture Techniques in Nature Photography. George will present stunning imagery that will reignite your passion and inspiration for photography.
BioImages and the Honor’s Banquet, both long-time traditions will bookend our program. We have planned a spectacular conference with a wide variety of topics and activities! Please mark your calendar, send in your registration form today and get ready to explore techniques, participate in workshops and share ideas with former and new colleagues!
Your planning team, the board and all our speakers are looking forward to see each and everyone there this year in Portland, Oregon!
See you there!!
