Newly elected BCA Executive Board and their future goals and ambitions for BCA
BCA's newly elected Executive Board are President Adam Cooper, RBP, FBCA who joined BCA in 1989. Our Vice President Jamie Hayden, RBP, FBCA joined in 1989 and our Secretary/Treasurer James Koepfler, FBCA who joined in 1980. Collectively, they have more 60 years membership experience demonstrating their strong commitment to the BCA.
This year the Executive Board will be focusing on more transparent governance. The business meeting for 2020 will have the reports tabled prior to the meeting to assist in streamlining discussion at the business meeting. The reports will be loaded onto the BCA web site so that members who are not able to attend the meeting can view the reports and send in comments prior to the meeting to add to the discussion.
Adam Cooper, our new President was formerly the Vice President. Adam's personal focus will be to provide a more financially viable meeting. As a small association, BCA generally loses money on meetings. We are somewhat constrained as we have to adhere to hotel requirements for meeting rooms and catering. Adams goal is a shared goal with the Director of Conferences. Their aim for this year is to bring the costs down, Adam will work closely with the Director of Conferences so together they can achieve this goal.
Jamie Hayden is new to the Executive Board. He is Vice President and his personal focus will be to improve the BCA website making it a 'go to' place for educational resources. We already have a good foundation of educational materials. Jamie is looking into a restructure of how it's presented. He will be working closely with the Director of Communications, as well as BCA member feedback in creating this site (your site). To facilitate this we have introduced an anonymous feedback button on the landing page. Look for the sprouting Arabidopsis. Please participate and share your ideas with us. We will all grow together! The basic architecture for the project will be sketched out and integration is slated to be underway well before the 2020 business meeting.
Our Secretary/Treasurer, James Koepfler over the past few years has streamlined our business accounts to earn more for the Association. He brought separate accounts together to earn more interest for the association. The economic downturn over the past few years has been difficult and James will continue to refine these strategies.
