Production Design Specialist
Scripps Research – La Jolla, CA

Scripps Research is looking for an exceptional multi-media specialist to be part of our Communications team. The ideal candidate will have experience working in a collaborative environment in which the vision of each creative element is brought to life with purpose and innovation.

  • Working in a collaborative manner with other team members to develop ad-hoc creatives for print and web that support and enhance the established visual brand.
  • Edit and create images for social channels, blog, and website.
  • Catalog, organize and maintain a growing photo and graphic library.
  • Develop infographics and statistical illustrations to be used across multiple media platforms.
  • Design, develop and format print collateral such as fact sheets, brochures, donor proposals, philanthropic reports and event invitations.
  • Correspond with print vendors and prepare files for production.
  • Design, develop and format on-screen collateral such as responsive evites and PowerPoint or Keynote presentations.
  • Support web team with website content updates, as needed.

Video Communications Manager
Scripps Research – La Jolla, CA

The Video Communications Manager position at Scripps Research is a member of the institutes communications department, working to promote Scripps Research to a wide variety of audiences in pursuit of strategic marketing and communications goals.

  • Responsible for overseeing Scripps Research video production, which includes but is not limited to developing best practices, strategy and operations for video communications, the direction of video shoots and production of videos.
  • Short term projects, supporting promotion of breaking news or events, while other longer-term projects for more evergreen promotional video will require higher production values.
  • Creates Scripps Research video materials for general and scientific communications for in-person and online viewing, as well as sharing with other partners and media. Videos are viewed by a variety of audiences and are used in press releases, website posts and social media posts, as well as for b-roll used for reporter cultivation.
  • Works directly with faculty, administration, students and leadership during their participation in video production and approvals.

Imaging – Research Assistant
The Wistar Institute – Philadelphia, PA

The Wistar Institute has an opening for a Research Assistant to join the Imaging Shared Resource. As a team member in an Imaging Core Facility at an NCI Basic Cancer Research Center, you will be responsible for a wide range of imaging modalities in support of cutting-edge cancer research and vaccine development. Your primary duties will be for training, assistance, and protocol development in pre-clinical, small animal imaging inside a small animal barrier facility using our Perkin Elmer IVIS Spectrum CT instrument, which is capable of 2D and 3D quantitative fluorescence, bioluminescence and microCT acquisition. In addition, collaboration with researchers to optimize their experimental protocols and assistance with post-imaging quantitative analysis are an integral part of the position. You will be responsible for maintaining/calibrating/optimizing imaging equipment, tracking equipment usage data and ordering and maintaining supplies for the IVIS imager, as well as assisting with general billing for the facility.

Applicants must have a bachelor's degree in biological or physical sciences or an imaging-related field with at least 1 year of experience in a research environment.

Clinical Photographer
ALS dba BioScreen Testing Services – Torrance, CA

ALS dba BioScreen Testing Services is a contract clinical research organization testing cosmetics and personal care products/devices for effectiveness and claim substantiation. We are looking for a photographer in the Torrance, CA area (near Los Angeles) to conduct before and after imagery of clinical study participants as they use the test product. Typical assignments would include digital photography of the test area (e.g. face, arm, and/or leg) of approximately 35 subjects at various testing intervals (e.g. baseline, week 4, week 8). Photographer would be briefed on each assignment as they are requested, and the testing facility will work with the photographer for scheduling. Studies are scheduled approximately four weeks in advance of when baseline photography will be needed.

Photographs must be extremely standardized and reproducible; using the same lighting, background, and subject positioning at each study interval. Use of a positioning software, such as Mirror ® (Canfield Scientific), is strongly recommended and may be supplied by BioScreen. Space within the testing facility will be provided for photography, however, applicant must bring their own equipment (lighting, camera, etc.).
