After blood pool creation, blood dries with a constant rate of evaporation. Subsequently, the drying rate decreases and cracking occurs, similar to a gel. Consequently, drying blood has analogous characteristics to that of both water and a gel. This is best seen using both photomacrography and photomicrography.

PURPOSE

This video was created as a teaching resource to show Forensic Science students the changes that take place as blood dries.
