Post-Surgical Iris Atrophy

Post-surgical iris atrophy after cataract surgery refers to the thinning, scarring, or degeneration of the iris that can occur as a complication following cataract surgery. This condition is relatively rare, but it can develop due to various factors related to the surgical procedure or the healing process.

Purpose
This photo was taken for a clinical follow-up for a patient in the ophthalmology department.

Equiment
I used a BX 900 photographic slit lamp from HAAG-STREIT to take both of these pictures with a 25x magnification. For the first one, I used a wide tangential slit beam, and for the second one, I used retroillumination.
