Recognising BioImages Awardees and our BCA Member Awards


In May 2023 we had our first BIOCOMM in person meeting since 2019. It was great to finally get together as our meeting had been delayed due to the Covid Pandemic. At BIOCOMM 2023 our BioImages 2022 awardees attending the meeting were presented with their certificates by James Hayden, FBCA.

Maja Divjak PhD, Grad Cert 3D Animation (AFTRS) from the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre, Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, received the Premier Award and the BCA Medical Education Award/ Multimedia, Interactive Learning and Website Division.
This was awarded for the best medical teaching aid in the Multimedia, Interactive Learning and Website Divisio

The full exhibition was also on show. It was enjoyable to have the awards in person again after presenting them online during the Covid pandemic. It gave all the conference delegates an opportunity to congratulate the awardees in person.

fellowship_group-0002.jpgThe time honoured tradition of the BCA Member awards continued at this meeting and were given out at the banquet and awards ceremony at the conclusion of the meeting. A pleasant way to conclude this dynamic conference.


Danielle Edwards FBCA was awarded the prestigious and highest honor in BCA, the 2020 Louis Schmidt award. It was three years in the waiting due to the COVID Pandemic.


Gale Spring presented Julie Murray with her fellowship in BCA.


Jim Fosse, FBCA and Charlene Baron, FBCA were made Emeritus members of the organization.


James Hayden, RBP, FBCA and Susanne Loomis, RBP, FBCA, were awarded the Ralph Creer Service award.

Congratulations to all the awardees for their outstanding contributions and service to BCA and industry. At the final close of the meeting, the outgoing president Adam Cooper, RBP, FBCA passed on the gavel to James Hayden, the incoming new president of BCA. Thanks to Adam Cooper for his service in the role of President.
