This animation shows how healthy physiologic blood flow in the arterioles and capillaries of pediatric patients is compromised when they are put on traditional cardiopulmonary bypass which uses a continuous flow pump. The animation then contrasts the disruption to vascular health caused by continuous blood flow, with the Ventriflo True Pulse Pump which provides a more natural pulsatile flow and better health to vasculature while on cardiopulmonary bypass.

PURPOSE

This animation was created for physicians and medical personnel to showcase the advantages of using the Ventriflo True Pulse Pump over a continuous flow pump during cardiopulmonary bypass. Physiologic differences of bloodflow and vascular health are shown in side by side comparisons to highlight the differences.
