Marie Jones receives Lifetime Achievement Award

Esteemed BCA member Marie Jones was presented the Regional Lifetime Achievement South East Healthcare Science Award by Professor Dame Sue Hill, Chief Scientific Officer for England at the awards ceremony at Wellington House in London, Tuesday 23rd June 2026.

Marie joined the NHS in 1982 as a volunteer, she started her medical photography career as a trainee in 1989 and since 2015 has been the Medical Photography Manager for Hampshire Hospitals Foundation Trust. She represents the pinnacle of dedication, constantly driving improvements in patient care, clinical education, and medical illustration. Marie’s produced the first comprehensive guideline for Cleft Lip and Palate in 2004 which was her submission for her IMI Fellowship and transitioned cleft photography from a variable practice to an essential, standardized scientific audit tool.

Marie provides photographic support for Cleft Lip and Palate (CLP); Colorectal Malignancy (Pseudomyxoma); Dermatology; ENT; Paediatrics; Orthopaedics and Oncology. Marie's work is not merely technical; it is integral to patient care, diagnosis, management, and the education of future healthcare science.

Marie was also visiting lecturer for the University of Westminster BSc (Hons) Clinical Photography course leading on all aspects of the Clinical Photography for 9 years.
