Kathleen Wagner, MFA, CMI
Kathleen Wagner grew up in the suburbs of Detroit, Michigan and always had an interest in art as well as science. She received her BFA with a concentration in drawing from Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan. During the summers Kathleen worked as a medical assistant for a plastic surgeon and an OB GYN. She received her MFA degree in Medical and Biological Illustration from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, Michigan.
Currently, Kathleen is retired from UT MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, TX where she worked for 27 years in the Medical Graphics and Photography Department as a medical illustrator and Associate Director. She now freelances and enjoys participating as Vice Chair over judges for the Houston Live Stock Show and Rodeo’s School Art Committee. Kathleen is also a member of the Association of Medical Illustrators and has won awards for her illustrations from the AMI, BCA and other institutions.
Kathleen has been working with the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo School Art Program that provides students, Pre-K through 12th grade, the opportunity to compete in district shows, earn scholarships, travel to summer workshops and display artwork in the Hayloft Gallery during the Rodeo.
