Total Body Photography - An Overview

Abstract

Total Body Photography (TBP) also known as mole mapping, is a photographic procedure used as a medical aid to help detect early skin cancer. A series of color photographs are taken of the body following strict protocols by a certified photographer. Total Body Photography is used in conjunction with Self Check Examinations performed by the patient. Given the intimate nature of Total Body Photography, patient comfort and confidentiality are vital.

This presentation will discuss the importance of using certified photographers, ensuring adherence to protocols and standards, obtaining informed consent and maintaining patient care. Technical issues such as lens choices, lighting and color will also be discussed.
