BCA member David Bishop was recently awarded an IMI Fellowship by the Institute of Medical Illustrators at their conference in Newcastle UK. David has given many workshops and is always involved in the IMI conferences. David has won numerous awards in BCA's BioImages his most recent award was the Premier Award in the General Illustrative / Assignment Category 2025 BioImages. At the BIOCOMM 2019 meeting at Asilomar, California David gave an outstanding portraiture workshop. David is well known to many in BCA and we would like to extend our congratulations to him on his well deserved fellowship.

Cat Lamoon read these words below when David received his fellowship:

It is always good to be able announce a new Fellow of IMI and this time it is David Bishop. David is Head of Medical Photography at the Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust and will be well known to most members of IMI as he has attended and presented several workshops at IMI conferences since the year 2000.

David applied for Fellowship with a detailed CV and supporting evidence to meet the "excellence in the profession" criteria and it was no surprise that his list of awards was extensive and covered clinical work along with PR photography and environmental portraiture. His awards have been from IMI, the BCA in America and others given in his previous employment in the MoD.

David has also been significantly involved in teledermatology across multiple sites, he has contributed to the Dermoscopy National Guidelines and his photographs have appeared in numerous publications. David was awarded the Norman K. Harrison medal in 2016 by Stephen Palmer.
Congratulations, David!
