Marie Craig
Marie Craig Photography
Natick, MA, USA
Marie Craig’s work collectively glorifies objects that were once imbued with life, but have since been abandoned. Though time relentlessly drives forward, it does not necessarily wear out life. In her most recent series, Juncture, Craig uses cyanotype, an early photographic process, to expand on the concept of the overlap between concrete bodies, or still moments, and the life instilled in them. Her photographs capture places of formative choice, incorporating both crystallization – intention and opportunity – chance, the unpredictable life to follow.
Graduating from Clark University, MA, with a Masters’ degree in Biology, Craig began as a medical photographer and illustrator specializing in cell biology for UMass Medical School and Brandeis University. Emerging from the medical sphere, she shifted her role to become a teacher, curator, and photographer, all in the fine art community. Craig has shown her work in solo and group exhibitions at Danforth Art, Framingham, COSO, Boston, and BigCi Open Day, Australia. She is the co-founder and director of Fountain Street Gallery in Boston. She works from her studio in Natick, MA. For more information, please visit Marie Craig’s website at MarieCraigArt.com.
